Bus Tour of Historic Homes in Wethersfield, CT.

The Cove Warehouse, Wethersfield, CT.

On October 9th a group of SSILL members visited Wethersfield.  As we enjoyed a beautiful Autumn day, we walked down Main Street to view the amazing collection of scarecrows including a life size rendering of the headless horseman

The tour of the Hurlburt-Dunham Museum gave us an overview of the families who lived there and made alterations to the original dwelling as well as the original furnishings. We drove to the Cove Warehouse where we marveled at this original structure and learned about the shipment of red onions to the Caribbean during the seventeenth century.

We ended the day with lunch at the Heirloom Cafe which is housed in the Comstock Ferry Seed Company, one of the oldest seed companies in the country. We had a wonderful time. Many of us were introduced for the first time to the town of Wethersfield in all of its Autumn splendor.
