THE LIVING VILLAGE – Yale Divinity School
THE LIVING VILLAGE – Yale Divinity School
Gregory E. Sterling, Dean of the Yale Divinity School
On October 29th, SSILL welcomed Gregory E. Sterling to talk about the Yale Divinity School’s Living Village. The Living Village will be a residential complex for students. The focus and design of the Village is on giving back to the environment, so important now due to climate change.
Everything from the architecture, building materials, solar energy, water supply and management, landscaping and lighting is being planned with the concept of leaving a positive footprint on the environment. The Living Village will be the largest living-building residential complex on campus. The Living Village is projected to be operational in August of 2025.
Attendees of the program found the concept of the Living Village fascinating, educational and thought provoking. Many SSILL members expressed a desire to visit the Living Village once it is ready for visitors. One SSILL member exclaimed, “Well done – excellent slides and explainations! What a wonderful addition to Yale and New Haven!” Another member stated, “Impressive endeavor and so well and thoroughly explained. An informative opportunity to learn about advances in our community!”
