The music began with Megan on the harp. She was accompanied by Musician First Class Allison Landstedt, singing a variety of songs in Soprano. First Class Ryan Foley played the flute. They provided an amazing hour of beautiful music.
On November 7th, SSILL welcomed the United States Coast Guard Chamber Players. There were over a hundred people in attendance. Chief Musician, Megan Sesma began the session by engaging the audience in a conversation about the importance of the arts.
The mix of music ranged from traditional American patriotic songs, to Broadway, and much more. Megan Sesma’s son, Xavier Gonzalez, read some touching poems to the back drop of the harp and flute. Members raved about the performance. One member cited, “I enjoyed the discussion of the arts as being important. The poetry with flute and harp brought me to tears”. Another member exclaimed, “How fortunate we are to be able to hear such magnificent heart touching, soul reaching music, thank you, thank you!”
The Coast Guard band has a 55-member ensemble and they perform around the world.
